Celeb O Rama is a celebrity photo blog maintained by Veneficus Unus. He started this blog from his love of photography and some aspects of celebrity culture. It was also quite a challenge to run when it came to the coding aspect since there wasn’t really a system for such a blog at the time.

Celeb O Rama’s main aim is to find the celebrity photos that are freely available on the internet and host them in one central location, no copyright violations are meant please see the disclaimer for more. I only wish to post pictures from photoshoots & red carpet or celebrity events. I do not very often post candids, photos taken of celebrities when they are out & about or walking down the street. Why? Well I don’t think that celebrities deserve to have their privacy taken away. At events & photoshoots they are there to get their photo taken, outside of their own house? No. I mean would you like it. I doubt it. There are only very rare occations that I would post candids.

Celeb O Rama started out in 2005 on Google’s Blogger and quickly grew into quite a large website. After over a year of hosting on image hosts and after the shut down of shareavenue.com Veneficus decided it was time to host the pictures himself.

He borrowed some webspace from Natural Tys and made a image uploader out of the excellent flash uploading tool SWFupload with a tagging database built in. This was used quite successfully for quite a long time.

Then in late 2007, beginning of 2008, Wordpress started to focus on integrating media uploading into it’s program. It is about this time that he used the space given to him to move Celeb O Rama away from Blogger which despite being excellent was too restrictive to run the site efficently. Moving to a hosted sub-domain meant that he could now use Wordpress. This was a blessing since over the next months Wordpress’ media uploading became better and better and made the blog much easier for Veneficus and the visitors to use.

Celeb O Rama is now hosted on Dreamhost, & thanks to their excellent service, has an uptime of around 98%. As you can see we now have our very own domain name, also thanks to Dreamhost, so you can find us easily.

Celeb O Rama again went under the computerized knife and was redesigned again in November 2008. The main reason was to fix some problems in older browsers, these problems were near unfixable in the old layout & so it was decided to redo the whole thing from scratch. The same color scheme was to be kept though after numerous requests from visitors.

Now 4 months down the line since it’s move to Dreamhost, Celeb O Rama has become fairly popular with nearly 50,000 visitors in November alone. Everyone here who works on Celeb O Rama wishes to thank you all for your support & visits. Thank you.

Now for the begging… As reliable as Dreamhost are it certainly isn’t cheap to host the site. In other words it is credited straight onto our Dreamhost account and comes off the next hosting bill. That way you know your money is being spent on supporting the site.
